Sign up to make a difference, families urged

FAMILIES are being urged to get together and make a difference as part of a drive to get more people involved in volunteering.

Volunteer group CSV is encouraging mums, dad and kids to support CSV Make a Difference Day, the biggest single day of volunteering on Saturday, October 30.

It is part of a drive to help families spend quality time together as new research reveals up to half of the population wants to spend more time with their families.

A spokeswoman for the project said: “Why not beat the boredom blues this half term by creating a legacy that can last up to 100 years? “Why not plant your own family tree in your local park.

“Did you know that in just one year an average tree can remove one tonne of carbon dioxide from the air and can provide enough oxygen for a family of four? “Why noy make a door number mosaic or print your own T-shirt?

“New independent research commissioned by CSV, shows that families do want to spend more time together.”

This year's CSV Make a Difference Day, the UK's biggest single day of volunteering, is on October but events are taking place in the fortnight before and after the big day.

Every year, tens of thousands of people do 'good stuff' in the community, from baking cakes for nursing homes to creating allotments in schools.
