Shops plans passed on hotel site

PLANS for three shopping units on the former site of a village hotel have been passed.

The Spar store will move along Green Arbour Road into the new development, where the Thurcroft Hotel once stood.

A spokesman for applicants ADM Surveyors said: “The proposal will bring back into beneficial use a derelict and overgrown site which forms an obvious gap in the street scene.

“It will provide new investment and job creation within Thurcroft and will extend the offer of Thurcroft as an appropriate location for ‘top up’ shopping.”

The two other units will be available for rent, the spokesman added, and 41 car parking spaces will be added. The Thurcroft Hotel was demolished in 2009.
