ROTHERHAM graphic designer Shaun Myers has developed the branding for a range of new stores - including one which will be taking over the town’s former Marks and Spencer store.

Shaun came up with designs form Poundworld, which aims to make its new Discount UK brand “the new Woolworths.”

Shaun, a freelance who studied at Rotherham College of Art and Design in the 1980s,  said: “For the design they wanted something completely different, because this is not the usual pound shop but something to compete with the likes of B&M.

“I went for something quite plain and simple but also quite striking.”

Shaun’s black, white and pink logo appeared at the first store in Leeds last year and will feature in more than a dozen more—including Rotherham.

He said: “When I heard they were planning to open in Rotherham, I wondered if they’d dare go for the town centre.

“I’m very proud to know that my designs will be on the old Marks and Spencer shop.”
