Sensory garden is a ‘wonderful achievement’

AN ADULT day service has created a quiet corner of Wath in the form of a sensory garden.

The addition at Community Connect, on Moor Road, was opened based on designs and ideas of people who use the centre.

Cllr Sheila Cowen, who organised the opening with support from Wath ward colleague Cllr Alan Atkin, said: “The sensory garden at Community Connect is the most wonderful achievement of all of the clients who attend the centre.

“Months and months of design and hard work have been undertaken to create a happy place for all who visit.

“The joint official opening by the mayor, mayoress and MP John Healey was the highlight of the event. Everyone involved was so excited and proud of this special moment.

“Roy, Reuben, Daniel and Matthew together presented their hand carved candle holders as gifts to the mayor and John Healey, commemorating the day.”
