Scooter club’s charity day success

SPECCED-UP scooters and stone-fired pizzas were the star attractions as fans of two-stroke transport gathered for a weekend to remember.

Rotherham Scooter Club’s Charity fundraising rally moved to a new home this year, with Swallownest Miners’ Welfare taking over from the previous venue at the Waverley pub in Catcliffe to cope with the event’s growing popularity.

Riders from as far afield as Scarborough and Southport joined forces to show off their colourful transport, enjoy the freshly-cooked fare from the on-site pizza oven and take in entertainment from the likes of 5ft Fez, Interceptors, Cambodia and The Snapp.

Scooter club member Phil Deakin said: “By 2pm on the Saturday we had  the green fields taken over by wonderful scooters from all over the country.

“We’ve had lots of positive comments regarding this year’s event and we want to thank everyone for supporting our fund-raising rally.”

Collections throughout the event raised £500 for the Rotherham branch of the Royal British Legion, £100 for Swallownest Miners’ Welfare Football Club and £200 for towards adult mental health services at Swallownest Court.
