The school pupils will read some First World War poetry and sing songs associated with the conflict, as well as reading out the names of the Mexborough servicemen who died.

The Mexborough School Band and the British Legion will also be present.

The commemoration has been organised with Mexborough and District  Heritage Society.

Society chairman Margaret Roper said: “It is to their great credit that, under the direction of deputy headteacher Tom Purdy, the schools have got together to arrange this presentation.

“The staff and pupils have all worked very hard on organising their performances and we hope the people of Mexborough will appreciate and be proud of their efforts.”
