Rotherham's all middle class now says survey

DECREASING numbers of Rotherham folk refer to themselves as working class, a survey has shown.

Focus groups of 2,000 adults in the borough and in Basildon, Essex, were polled as researchers BritainThinks looked into social status.

Just 24 per cent of those questioned said they were working class, while a whopping 71 considered themselves middle class.

BritainThinks founder Deborah Mattinson said it appeared that the old “badge of pride” was now gone for most who called themselves working class.
