The winners, Amy Grayson, Karl Collinson, Sarah Hale and Daniel Roberts, were awarded an engraved i-Pod shuffle and certificate for their hard work.

John Naylor, assistant headteacher at Brinsworth school, said: "The Gravity workshop was a brilliant activity that both challenged and enthused the young people involved.

"They were engrossed in designing and constructing their roller-coasters using the science they had learned from the simple experiments.

"We are thrilled to have a team that emerged as winners."

The science-based digital media challenge was organised by the Digital Learning Foundation, funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council and brought to Rotherham by the School Effectiveness Service.

Other teams from Maltby, Thrybergh and Brinsworth also received certificates for their projects.
