Rotherham shoppers help feed needy families

GENEROUS shoppers clubbed together to help feed thousands of needy families who could otherwise be left without food.

Enough food to make 2,860 meals was donated by Tesco shoppers at its six stores across the borough which was donated to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

The collection ran from June 30 to July 2 and enough food to make 2.78 million meals was donated across the country.

Caroline Silke, head of community for Tesco, said: “We’re over the moon with the huge number of food donations we’ve had in the stores, resulting in such an amazing number of meals to give to those in need.

“It really demonstrates the generosity of the people of Rotherham. Thank you for once again supporting us, and making this collection so successful.”
