Last year, Dignity, who became responsible for the management of the crematorium in August 2008, renovated the D-Day Veterans Memorial and provided a Union Flag and flagpole and arranged for a piper and bugler to accompany the service.

Twelve Normandy veterans were joined for the service by a contingent of sea cadets.

The service, which was attended by 40 people, included the laying of a wreath, the playing of The Last Post and The Reveille Bugle Call and concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
