Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust celebrates essential work of hospital staff
Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust held a series of events including quizzes, fire extinguisher demonstrations, food samplings and tours of the trust’s energy centre in the Wellbeing Garden at Rotherham Hospital to mark its National Estates and Facilities Day.
Ian Hinitt, director of estates and facilities at the trust, said: “Often our teams are behind the scenes which mean their work can sometimes go unnoticed.

The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Robert Taylor, opened the event and had the opportunity to show off the skills he learned as a former firefighter during the extinguisher demonstration.
"People don't realise the amount of work that happens ‘behind the scenes’ in the NHS,” said the Mayor, who has chosen Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity as one of the good causes he will be supporting during his year in office.
“Everything would grind to a halt without colleagues like these.

“These aren’t people doing a functional job – they do it because they understand that all their contributions support the patients that are looked after in the Trust.
“I find that commitment awe-inspiring and I commend them.”
