Rotherham knife killer gets 23 years

A Rotherham man found guilty of murder has been jailed for a minimum of 23 years.

Following a re-trial at Sheffield Crown Court, Danny Parr (21) was locked up today for killing 19-year-old Jamie Stuart.

Jamie, of Orchard Close, Ecclesfield, was found during the early hours of July 23, 2011, lying on the pavement seriously injured on Holgate Avenue in Parson Cross, Sheffield.

He later died in the Northern General Hospital from a number of stab wounds.

Parr, of Broom Close, Bramley also pleaded guilty to one account of conspiring to intimidate a witness and one account of seeking to take revenge.

A retrial was ordered after the jury at a trial in January, 2011 was unable to reach a verdict.
