Rotherham family's mercy mission to Pakistani flood victims

THE Advertiser received exclusive pictures from one of the floods-ravaged areas of Pakistan through a Rotherham family.

Family members of businesman Anjum Abbasi were part of an aid mission which distributed food and medicines to the North West Frontier region as the flood waters receded.

Mr Abbasi’s nephew Jodi Abbasi and cousin Sebby Abassi—university students from Rotherham on holiday in the area—were among a group who went from the capital Islamabad to Sholghra near Charsadda to help struggling families.

“These pictures show just what devastation the floods have left in their wake and we all fear worse if yet to come in other parts of the country after further flood warnings were issued,” said Mr Abbasi.
