Rotherham bank holiday pharmacy arrangements

CHEMISTS in Rotherham are urging people to pop in for expert health advice over the bank holiday.

Many pharmacies will be operating limited hours but NHS England pointed out they offered an alternative to hospital and GP care, especially over bank holiday weekends.

Karen Curran, head of co-commissioning for NHS England for South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, said: “Your local pharmacy can help you with more than you might think.

“Pharmacists offer expert, confidential advice and treatment for many minor health problems.

“As most GP surgeries will be closed on Monday we would also encourage patients to order any medication they need in plenty of time, so they have a good supply during the bank holiday.”

Pharmacists are fully qualified to give advice on all sorts of health issues including coughs, breathing problems, bites and stings, colds and sore throats, as well as being able to help stock the medicine cabinet with the likes of pain relief and anti-diarrhoea medicine, plasters bandages, thermometer, antihistamines and antiseptic cream.
