Rotherham artists urged to enter art exhibition

BUDDING artists are being invited to unveil their masterpieces to the world as entries for the fourth annual Rotherham Open Art Exhibition are now being accepted.

The six-week long exhibition, starting May 1, brings in hundreds of people every year.  Last year over 80 local artists showed their work and the event will be welcoming the region's talent for a fourth time.

The exhibition, which will be held in the Rotherham Art Gallery in the Central Library and Arts Centre on Walker Place, is open to both professional and amateur artists, who were born or who have lived in South Yorkshire and are aged 17 or over.

Senior curator Frances Yeo said: "In the past three years, this amazing exhibition has recognised the fantastic talent and achievements of local artists and has helped to showcase their work to the widest possible audience

"We're expecting hundreds of art works, but, unfortunately, we're limited for space, so we can't accept large sculptures, installations or performances and will only be able to display a limited number of large 2D and 3D works.

"People should get their entries in as early as possible and be part of Rotherham's artistic revolution."

There is a non-refundable fee of £10 per artist. For more details and a full list of rules and regulations you can pick up an entry form from Clifton Park Museum, the Central Library or via post.
