Rotherham “among smog hotspots”

A MASSIVE cloud of smog was predicted to smother Rotherham today — making it one of the worse polluted places in the country.

According to official predictions, only Doncaster would be worse affected by the air-clogging fog blowing in from the Continent, with Sheffield and Chesterfield also suffering badly.

Defra said most of the UK would be affected, with normally “low” levels of air pollution rising to “high”.

Asthma sufferers were urged to carry inhalers, while there were also fears health problems for the elderly and young with breathing difficulties could also be made worse.
