READER PICTURE: Everest base camp by Helen Jeffery and Robert Fourrier

ADVERTISER readers Helen Jeffery and Robert Fourrier achieved a lifetime ambition by climbing to Everest base camp as this photo proves.

They write: "We flew from Kathmandu to Lukla's notorious mountain airport on April 1. From there eight days of trekking and altitude acclimatisation commenced before eventually reaching Everest Base camp at 5364m above sea level.

"The following morning was an early start in order to summit Kala Patthar (5545m, the highest and most demanding climb of the trip) to view the breath-taking sunrise over Everest.

"An exhausting and exhilarating experience!"
