Radiohead 'shattered' by South Yorkshire roadie's death

CHART-topping superstars Radiohead have paid tribute to South Yorkshire-born roadie Scott Johnson, who was killed when a stage collapsed before a gig in Canada.

Scott, whose family lives in Hickleton, in the Dearne Valley, died when the top section of the stage fell on Saturday.

Three other people were injured during the accident, which happened just an hour before the gates were set to open to the sold-out show in Toronto—the final date in Radiohead’s North American tour.

Radiohead drummer Philip Selway said: “We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague.

“He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew.

“We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”

Other workmates have also paid tribute, describing him as  “cheerful and dependable.”
