Pub site development plan thrown out
PROPOSALS to demolish a pub and build four three-bedroom homes have been rejected by planners.
Applicants Brocklebank and Co said the boarded-up Lord Conyers, at Wales was not of “listable” quality.
Their application to Rotherham Borough Council added: “We are of the opinion that sympathetic development for four properties is currently the only commercial viable option in the current climate.”
But a council spokesman said: “We consider that inadequate information has been provided to justify and the demolition of the existing building.
“Without such information the application is considered to be harmful to the character and appearance of the Wales Conservation Area due to the loss of this historic building.”
