Pub-goers push the bed out for charity

REGULARS from a village pub raised more than £400 for charity with a gruelling bed push.

Staff and customers of the Cavalier in Ravenfield spent much of the day pushing the hospital bed to Whiston and back again in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the pub’s chosen charity for the year.

The nine-mile trek, which brought in £451.96 in donations, was followed by live entertainment at the Cavalier.

Janet Collins, whose husband Michael took part in the stunt, said: “They had plenty of people hooting their horns on the way and stopping to make donations.

“It was hard work but they had a fantastic day.”
