£555 for Weston Park cancer Charity

AN AFTERNOON of cakes and coffee has raised £555.61 for a cancer charity.

The fund-raiser at the Howlett Centre in Whiston featured a variety of stalls selling bric a brac, CDs, DVDs, clothing as well as cream cakes and refreshments.

The money was delivered in person by organisers PCSO Adam Balawajder and Pc Zaf Iqbal who cycled on police bikes to deliver the funds to Weston Park Cancer Charity immediately after the event.

Adam said: “Thank you to all the people at the Howlett Centre who contributed massively to the day and to all the residents of Whiston who raised a great amount of money through their generosity.

“We were also grateful to the businesses who donated raffle prizes. “Pc Zaf Iqbal and I completed the cycle from the Howlett Centre in Whiston to Weston Park in Sheffield in under an hour which was quite a feat.”
