Prize for star snapper Thomas

Thomas Wright of Conisbrough amassed the most votes from people who visited a three-month long exhibition held at Riverside House, and won the prestigious prize with his photographic entry Saltwick Nab.

Saltwick Nab is a rocky outcrop just outside Whitby.

The borough council’s Cabinet member for Culture and Tourism, Cllr Amy Rushforth, said: “Congratulations to Thomas, and everyone else who exhibited, it was a real example of the incredible artistic talent we have in this town.

“Saltwick Nab is a wonderfully evocative photograph which is a worthy winner, and certainly, the dozens of people who voted thought so too.

“It’s wonderful to see so many creative people in the town we love who take so much effort in their artwork and are willing and proud to let it be shown to the public.

“Here’s to next year's competition and even more entries.”

The popular exhibition can still be viewed up until next Friday.
