Printing firm produces world's biggest business card

A PRINTING firm has impressed Guinness judges with the biggest ever business card.

Manvers-based instantprint set a new world record for largest total area at its press last week — a massive 3.41m squared.

At 1.5m tall and 2.3m wide, the staggering stationery is also the tallest and widest business card ever produced.

Printers blew up co-owner James Kinsella’s contact card to 728 times its wallet-fitting size — a record confirmed by Guinness adjudicator Pravin Patel.

To qualify, the colossal card had to bear business information and be made of exactly the same material as its tiny namesake.

The firm also had to use the staggering stationery by exchanging it with a contact, so it was passed to Advertiser photographer Kerrie Beddows.

James said: “What better way to celebrate our larger premises and investment in the latest printing technology than to demonstrate that we can print just about anything.”

He added: “It was a challenge finding just the right material to print on, to make sure the card could be held easily without bending.

“Once we’d trailed a few methods, we printed and measured them multiple times to make sure they were perfect.”

The record-breaking card is made from foam board with a double-sided matte paper finish.

It took just six seconds to print on instantprint’s giant, state-of-the-art machinery.

The firm’s presses work 24 hours per day, six days per week, churning out 450,000 business cards each day.

James said: “It was a real relief to receive the certificate from Guinness themselves, after months of planning from our team.

“I think it’s a childhood dream for most people to achieve a world record and we’ll definitely be displaying our certificate proudly.”
