Poster aims to protect cyclists

PUPILS hold up 18 posters — one for each pedestrian or cyclist killed or seriously injured every week in Yorkshire and the Humber in 2021.

Youngsters from Ravenfield Primary Academy were backing national Road Safety Week this week (14-20), which aims to raise awareness and protect those on foot or bike.

Mary Williams, chief executive of road safety charity Brake, said: “Road casualties are an appalling carnage that can and must end, through us all taking the right steps.”

Roads minister Richard Holden said: “Everyone should be confident using our roads and we’re committed to continually improving road safety.”
