Rotherham students turn to politics
The exercise was part of Local Democracy Week which aimed to get young people interested in local issues and politics.
The Rother Valley South Area Assembly hosted the event, now in its fifth year, at the Lifewise Centre in Hellaby.

Hide AdStudents from Dinnington High School, Wales High School, Brinsworth Comprehensive, Aston Academy, Maltby Academy and Oakwood High School, took part and each formed a council.
The teenagers were presented with a number of social and emergency scenarios which tested their decision making and problem solving skills.
The teams of students had to formulate a plan to solve the problems while working to a budget.
They presented their ideas to a panel of judges which included representatives from the council, police, fire service, local wardens and other community leaders.

Hide AdThe panel decided Dinnington High School had the winning strategy and the pupils were awarded with a special trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament.
All competitors have been invited for afternoon tea at Rotherham Town Hall.
