MEN-only swimming sessions could be organised if there is enough demand, Rotherham Borough Council has said.

The Advertiser reported in July how a group of women successfully brought changes to their single-sex sessions at the leisure centre at St Ann’s.

These included training an extra female lifeguard and installing frosted glass for extra privacy.

Cllr Alan Napper, UKIP, asked if the same would be done for men, in the interests of equality.

Cllr Sarah Allen, cabinet member for cleaner, greener communities, said: “Should there be sufficient demand and evidence, we would work with our partner PFP Leisure to consider that. We have not yet had that demand.”

A series of men-only events had been held in the past as part of a Hairy Bikers weight-loss project, she added.
