Rotherham to receive over £3m to support drug and alcohol services

It follows an independent review in 2021 led by Dame Carol Black which aimed to make sure that vulnerable people with substance misuse problems get the support they need to recover and turn their lives around.

ROTHERHAM has been granted more than £3 million over the next two years to boost drug and alcohol services.

The Department of Health and Social Care has announced £154.3 million in fresh funding to help local authorities across the UK commision treatment and recovery services.

Rotherham Council is set to receive £1,128,684 to fund its drug strategy allocation for 2023/24, rising to £2,178,186 in 2024/25. 

The review report also contains 32 recommendations for change across various government departments and other organisations, to improve the effectiveness of drug prevention and treatment.

Rotherham’s allocation for inpatient detoxification will remain the same for 2023/24 and 2024/25 at £64,07.

Sheffield’s funding will double by 2024/25 to £4.58 million, while Barnsley will also benefit from £3.2 million over the next two years.
