The initiative is being supported by the Rotherham Carers Forum and the workshops will be delivered at Carers' Corner in the Rain Building, Eastwood Lane, on Wednesdays from 12.15pm to 2.15pm, starting on January 10.

Participants get the chance to experience a 15 to 20 minute taster of clinical hypnosis in some of the workshops and they will learn self hypnosis by observing.

There will be a charge of £2 to £5.

The workshops are being launched to coincide with World Hypnotism Day on January 4.

Angie said: “Once we release the underlying stress and anxiety and teach clients to manage these independently we can deal in a holistic safe way with the physical effects that are having a profound effect on a person’s life and ability to continue in their caring role.

“The workshops will give carers the understanding, knowledge and techniques to help bring about permanent lifestyle changes which have the potential to give them a happier and healthier life.

“As a former social care professional and being a carer myself for many years and still counting, I understand only too well the need for carers in Rotherham to be supported and I have made a pledge to offer my services on a voluntary basis to carers throughout 2018 with a programme of 16 workshops on a rolling programme, designed to help carers manage their own stress and anxiety and promote their own health and wellbeing.

“I am planning deliver complementary Reiki treatments for adult carers and I am planning to offer workshops to young carers in the borough in the near future.”

Jayne Price, of Rotherham Carers Forum, said: “This is a great opportunity for informal unpaid family and friend carers to access workshops which will benefit their own health and wellbeing, in an informal and social setting.”
