Driver facing hit-and-run death trial


Mark Anthony Heeley (38), of Memoire Grove, Rossington, appeared at Doncaster Crown Court charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of Derek Lyon (52) and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He was also charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Hide AdHeeley was released on conditional bail and will reappear at Doncaster Crown Court for a plea and management hearing on October 22.
A trial date has been provisionally set for November 19.
Mr Lyon was jogging along Ruddle Lane, Micklebring, toward Edlington on March 22 when he was hit by a yellow Iveco Tipper lorry.
He died from his injuries following the incident, which happened just before 4.30pm.
Mr Lyon, of The Crescent, was a joiner for Wath-based Bramall Construction. He was a motorbike enthusiast and his interests included badminton, going to Conisbrough Cricket Club and jogging. He left a wife, June.
