Council serves up bronze standard school dinners


Riverside Catering — run by Rotherham Borough Council — received a bronze from the Soil Association’s Food for Life Served Here Awards.
The award provides an independent endorsement that the service meets food standards by serving meals made from fresh, sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients.

Hide AdCllr Gordon Watson, RMBC deputy leader, said: “Congratulations to everyone at Riverside Catering on the hard work they put in to achieving this standard, and especially Miss Bradshaw and the team of cooks at Anston Hillcrest, who underwent the inspection last year.
“The award is a real testament to Riverside Catering’s commitment to serving healthy food, from sustainable and locally sourced ingredients.”
Ian Nutt, head of development at Food for Life, said: “Achieving a Food for Life Served Here Award is a fantastic accomplishment and a true reflection of a caterers’ commitment to serving school meals that are nutritious as well as tasty.
