Blue badge offence costs Rawmarsh man £500

A MAN who used his disabled daughter’s blue badge has been told to pay more than £500 in court costs.

Daniel Wilson, (28), of Hawke Close, Rawmarsh, failed to appear at Rotherham Magistrates Court charged with using the badge to park his car in a disabled bay on Corporation Street in May this year.

He was also charged with using his daughter’s blue badge to park his car in a disabled bay on Effingham Square during the same month.

Wilson was fined £200 and ordered to pay £309 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

Rotherham Council’s parking services manager Martin Beard said: “These were cases of anti-social parking behaviour depriving genuine people of much needed parking spaces.

“The council will continue its campaign against such fraudulent activities.”
