Animal shelter to open space for homeless people's dogs
The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Eve Rose Keenan, told Wednesday’s council meeting of the innovative idea at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary.
Cllr Keenan has supported the North Anston centre throughout her year as the borough’s premier citizen.

Hide AdShe told the meeting: “Thornberry Animal Sanctuary is one of my charities and I’ve been in consultation with them this week.
“They are freeing up space for three homeless people’s dogs, so when we report seeing homeless people on our streets, we can now be assured that these animals will be taken out of that situation.
“It may free that homeless person to take a space in a hostel and keep him or herself warm. That’s a really good piece of news.”
