Alleged attack victim dies in hospital

A SUSPECT’S assault charge is expected to be changed to murder or manslaughter after his alleged victim died in hospital.

David Sindall (33) was remanded in custody last Friday (9) — the same day as Dean Armitage died from his injuries.

Mr Armitage (49) suffered head injuries after an incident outside his address in Hoyland, Barnsley, on July 21.

Police believe he had stopped a man at about 3.15am, believing he was trying to break into his vehicle.

Sindall, of Selbourne Street in Eastwood, is also charged with burglary and will be back at Sheffield Crown Court in October.

A police spokesman said: “The assault charge is now expected to be changed to murder/manslaughter as investigating officers liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service.”
