Action promised after Doncaster Prison hanging tragedy

DONCASTER Prison has pledged to act on concerns raised at the inquest of a murder suspect who hanged himself in his cell.

Hossein Abdollahzadeh (32) was found dead six days after being remanded to the prison accused of drowning ex-girlfriend Agnieszka Dziegielewska (30) in the bath at her flat in Swinton.

An jury at an inquest in Doncaster returned a verdict of suicide, but concerns were raised during the 8-day hearing about procedures at the prison, run by Serco.

Prison director John Biggins has promised to take immediate steps to address issues raised by the coroner.

Three other prisoners have hanged themselves at the prison since Abdollahzadeh’s death.
