Police track “taxi” driver following collision

POLICE are appealing for help tracking down the driver of a “white taxi” which failed to stop following a collision involving a pedestrian.

Investigating officers want people to come forward if they saw the incident involving a pedestrian and a car on Station Street, Swinton at around 1.20am on April 6.

A police spokesman said that the car, which is “believed to be a white taxi”, failed to stop and left the scene.

Police officers believe the vehicle may be a Volkswagen Passat-type car and are appealing to the driver to come forward.

The pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 87 of April 6.
