Police shocked after driver unhurt in dramatic car wreck

Two lorries and three cars were involved in the collision between junction 33 and 32 on the M1 southbound near to the M18 turn off at about 6.20pm on Tuesday.

A police officer tweeted: “Unbelievably, driver of this car managed to walk away from this collision last night.”  

One person was taken to hospital but no other serious injuries were reported.

A passing motorist who saw the mangled wreckage said: “It’s a miracle if anyone could have got out of that car without serious injuries.”

A spokeswoman was unable to give any details of the vehicles and the extent of the occupants’ injuries, adding that one person was taken to hospital after the crash.
