Police officer assaulted in Rotherham
A MAN has been charged with assaulting a police officer during a disturbance in Rotherham on Saturday.
The Rotherham PC suffered an injury to the head when police were called to the scene in Ship Hill at around 2.30am.
Jamie Kelly (18), of Selbourne Street, Eastwood, has been charged with assault and remanded in custody. He will appear before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court today.
The officer was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
