Police called to Swinton incident

POLICE were called out on Wednesday following concerns for the safety of a man at an address in Swinton.

Officers attended Valley Road shortly after 3.30pm, a cordon was put in place and the road was closed for several hours.

A police spokeswoman said: “Significant resources were deployed to the area to ensure the man’s safety and that of others in neighbouring properties.

“Other agencies were also called to the scene as there was concern about a possible gas leak.”

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage. He remained in police custody yesterday morning.
