Police appeal after driver "seriously injured" in crash

POLICE have appealed for information on a traffic collision which “seriously injured” one driver, who had to be rescued from the wreck by firefighters.

A MAN suffered serious injuries and had to be cut free from the wreckage of a crash by firefighters.

The 59-year-old was driving a black VW Golf along Dearne Valley Parkway at around 6.50pm on Saturday, March 4, when it collided with a white Ford Ranger pick-up.

The Golf overturned and collided with a lamppost, before landing on a grass verge at the side of carriageway.

Two fire engines from Tankersley and Dearne stations attended the smash.

The Golf driver suffered serious injuries and had to be rescued by firefighters.

The 24-year-old driver and 22-year-old passenger, both men, in the Ranger also sustained injuries.

Officers urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or who was in the area at the time, to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 1037 of March 4.
