Poems and songs at festival assembly

YOUNGSTERS had an enjoyable time at Sitwell Infant School on Grange Road, Rotherham, as they celebrated the Harvest Festival.

At the special harvest assembly, year two children presented poems, songs and a range of work about the time of year.

Rev Karen Skidmore, from St Cuthbert’s Church, attended and spoke to the children about how and why people all over the world celebrate the harvest.

The school decided to support the local food bank on Grove Road for the second year running and handed over donations.

Headteacher Kirstey Peart said: “When we delivered our donations to the food bank, the volunteers were blown away with how much food we were once again handing over.

“They sent a very heartfelt thank you to all parents, carers and children for their generosity and support to the people of Rotherham.”
