UKIP candidate demands apology from Rotherham Council

UKIP has demanded an apology from Rotherham Borough Council to the couple at the centre of this week’s fostering row.

The party’s by-election candidate, Jane Collins, said the foster carers — who were stunned when three children were apparently removed from them purely because of their political leanings — had done nothing wrong.

The council said on Monday that it had held its own internal review and would cooperate with a Department for Education probe.

But Ms Collins said: “What the council should do is apologise and give the children back.

“There also needs to be a national enquiry to see if this sort of thing is happening elsewhere.”
