Tracker app boosts Yorkshire Air Ambulance coffers

YORKSHIRE Air Ambulance has launched a fund-raising iPhone app, which allows users to track its helicopters.

Profits from the £1.99 mobile phone feature go to the charity and supporters are able to see how their money is helping.

Marketing manager Abby McClymont said: “Social media has become really a really important communication tool for us in recent years.

“We are seeing increasing numbers of followers on Facebook and Twitter, and for us this was the next step.

“There are a lot of charity apps already out there, but nothing like this has been done by any other air ambulance charity in the UK.”

The YAA app—available from iTunes—also features video and audio of the helicopters and team in action.
