Strike a light for a loved one

LOST loved ones will be remembered at a special service in Rotherham town centre this weekend.

Rotherham Minster is the venue for the service at 4pm on Sunday as part of the Rotherham Hospice’s Light up a Life appeal.

The hospice is calling on people to make a donation and dedicate a light in their Book of Lights to a loved one—it could be in memoriam, to celebrate the gift of friendship or to mark a special occasion.

A hospice spokeswoman said: “You can dedicate a light in a variety of ways—by submitting a dedication to the Book of Lights by filling in a form or by applying to the hospice for a Light Up a Life Remembrance Pack so you can remember your loved ones from the comfort of your own home.

“Through your dedication, you will not only be illuminating the life of your loved one, but will be helping to provide support to local people who need the care that Rotherham Hospice offers.”

The appeal also features Sunday’s Light up a Life Ceremony—a remembrance service at the Minster which is aimed at bringing together people who want to remember their loved ones.

The Book of Lights will be available to view at the hospice during December and early January.
