Smoke and Pepper set to spice up Forge Island this summer

A NEW food outlet known for its “bold flavours and unique dining experience” is set to open its doors at Forge Island later this summer.

Smoke and Pepper – with a contemporary street food-inspired menu set to include smoked meats, loaded dishes and indulgent comfort food, designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes – is coming to Rotherham town centre in July.

The venture is the latest by owner Daoud Tahir, who already runs Forge Island’s dessert parlour Heavenly Desserts.

Daoud said: “We’re excited to be bringing Smoke and Pepper to Forge Island.

“The development has become a key destination in the town centre, and we’re proud to be part of that journey.

“We believe our menu offers something new to Forge Island, with bold flavours and a unique dining experience that we’re confident will be a real hit with visitors.”

Cllr Chris Read, Leader of Rotherham Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see Forge Island continuing to attract new and exciting businesses like Smoke and Pepper.

“The addition of another restaurant, particularly one offering something different, only strengthens Forge Island’s overall offer.

“We’re delighted to welcome this new venture and wish them every success when they open later this summer.”

Forge Island is already home to Arc Cinema, Vetro Lounge, Heavenly Desserts and Travelodge.

Parking is free for up to four hours when visitors validate their parking in venue.

Further details on Smoke and Pepper, including the finalised opening date and launch plans, are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

An RMBC spokesperson added: “Smoke and Pepper’s opening in July will follow the opening of the new Market Hall – a temporary home for Rotherham’s indoor market traders – on Friday, July 10.

“Meanwhile, work continues on the Riverside Gardens and Corporation Street public realm, in addition to work that has already taken place to Snail Yard.

“Rotherham Council’s Street Safe team continue to be on hand to help shoppers and visitors to the town centre as well as in principle towns of Wath, Swinton, Dinnington and Maltby, working closely with police to crackdown on incidents of anti-social behaviour.

“Rotherham town centre forms a key part of the Don Valley Corridor Mayoral Development Zone, which also includes Rotherham Gateway Station as well as other key sites for development and investment.”
