Salvation Army launches Rotherham toy appeal

HELP put something under the Christmas trees of disadvantaged children, the Salvation Army has urged.

The charity’s Rotherham branch has linked up with Superdrug for this year’s toy appeal, launched this week.

Volunteers distribute gifts to youngsters in hospitals and homes ahead of December 25.

Major Ernest Huby, from the Rotherham branch, said: “We’re partnering with Superdrug. Their stores will be acting as drop-off points.

“We will then pick up the toys and work closely with social workers and health staff.

“Last year it didn’t go very well, so this year we’re giving it a real push because there’s going to be a lot of desperate people in need.”
