Rotherham firm's Corgi model aiding flood rescue team

A ROTHERHAM firm has come up with a model fund-raising initiative to help support the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Tools and fixings supplier Toolstation has teamed up with Corgi to produce a model of the RNLI's Flood Rescue Team's Land Rover and  inflatable lifeboat.

The model is on sale, priced £5.49, at Toolstation’s HQ at Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, Rotherham, and all the profits will go to the RNLI.

The company already sponsors the Flood Rescue Team, which is the RNLI’s inland division.

The team’s highly-trained volunteers are increasingly being asked to help in waterborne emergencies and natural disasters throughout the UK.

Toolstation's managing director Neil Carroll said: "While of course it is vital to raise funds for the Flood Rescue Team, my big hope is that this will also help spread awareness of their activities around the UK," he said.

"Since Toolstation took on the privileged position of corporate sponsor for the Flood Rescue Team in 2010, my focus has been on making publicity for the charity a key part of what we bring to the partnership.

“Following a year of background work and close co-operation between colleagues from Toolstation and from the RNLI, this model is the result. It is going to be very popular and I am delighted with it."

The model, which is perfect as a gift, is also expected to be in high demand by collectors.

The model, which comes in an attractive presentation box, can also be ordered by phone on Freephone 0808 100 7211.
