Richard wields his racquet in world record bid

A WORLD record beckons this weekend for a Rotherham IT expert if he completes a 28-hour badminton marathon.

Richard Clarkson, who works for a Sheffield solicitors’ will be taking part in the marathon to raised £10,000 for the NSPCC.

Richard and 11 other players from the Sheffield Forum Badminton Club will make their attempt at Firth Park Comprehensive School with only five minutes rest per hour— an no more that two hours rest throughout the whole event.

Richard said: “The NSPCC is a really worthy cause and we are confident that not only can we reach our £10,000 target we can get that new world record as well. 

“We also hope that the tournament will help to encourage social sport as a whole and in particular will raise the profile of badminton on the run up to the 2012 Olympics.
