Revamp for park plagued by yobs

A POPULAR playground ruined by fire and vandalism is in line for a five-figure revival.

Barker’s Park’s children’s play area was declared out of bounds after arson and damage attacks last summer, leaving parents and councillors fearing it could be closed for good.

The sports pavilion at the Kimberworth Park facility was also targeted by thieves and vandals, causing £45,000 of damage and leaving football teams without changing rooms.

But the Advertiser can reveal that the park will be restored to its former glory and the playground surface toughened to deter future vandalism.
