Poignant Reclaim the Night walk highlighted women’s concerns

STROLLING to make a stand... Reclaim the Night returned for another year — on a new route through Clifton Park.

The annual event started in 2015 as part of efforts to make Rotherham’s streets feel safer for women and girls.

Walkers gathered at Clifton Park Museum on November 25 and their route took in the newly-lit path towards Middle Lane.

Organiser Cllr Emma Hoddinott said: “It was a cold night but we held another poignant walk around the town.

“We focused on Clifton Park where we saw the new streetlights which have gone in, but also highlighted the concerns that women and girls still have when walking along at night.

“Thank you to everyone who made the night happen, and we hope to be back next year.”
