Plans for shops and flats at former pub
A FORMER pub building in West Melton could be converted into shops and apartments under a new plan.
The pub has most recently housed the Queens diner at Winterwell Road, but planning documents submitted to Rotherham Council say it is currently out of use.

Now the council is being asked for consent to turn the ground floor into two shop units, with a pair of flats on the first floor.
The site’s location means the shops would be expected to serve a customer-base from both West Melton and Wath.
Planning documents describe the building’s last use, as a diner with flats above, as “unauthorised”.
One of the proposed flats would have two bedrooms, with the other providing one-bedroomed accommodation.
The planning application has been supported by research which shows a lack of suitable, similar accommodation for new shops in the area.
The application has been made by a company called YH 2020 Investments Ltd, based in Leeds.
